Note: This MIME type is starting to go through the
RFC process now. By convention, it is image/x-xbitmap but
when it is released, it will be image/xbm.

where xpaint, xloadimage, and xv are some of the many xbm viewers.
Note that if you use xv, you need to register the software with the author (see the Licence info).
You may quickly get a copy of xpaint-2.1.1.tar.Z, xloadimage.4.1.tar.gz, or xv-3.10a.tar.gz for UNIX systems. Note that this copy may not be as recent as the previous reference however.
