If you already have Mathematica on your system, you should associate it
to this MIME type (application/mathematica) in your mailcap file or Helper Application list.
If you do not have Mathematica on your system and cannot view
this document then you need to install a viewer:
application/mathematica; XMathReader %s
where XMathReader is a Mathematica Notebook viewer.
You may quickly get a copy of XMathReader-sun.tar.Z for Suns. Note that this copy may not be as recent as the previous reference however.
Note: Monica Davis (
monica@wri.com), of Wolfram Research Marketing, has indicated that the UNIX non-SUN versions of XMathReader will not be available until Spring of 1995 when new features are added to MathReader and it is rebuilt for all platforms. We do not recommend embedding.ma resources into documents until that point.
To install XMathReader:
XMathReader.tar.Z.% uncompress XMathReader.tar.Z
% tar -xvf XMathReader.tar
XMathReader.XMathReader directory and run the script
xfe.install.cd XMathReader
./xfe.install
xfe.install will call the viewer mathematica, we
suggest renaming it to XMathReader so as to avoid conflicts with
Mathematica. Note that if you already have access to Mathematica
you should use that as your viewer.
To set up the Mathematica viewer, enter the following into the HelperApplication or
ExternalViewer dialog box in your Web Browser:
| MIME type / subtype | application/mathematica |
|---|---|
| extensions | ma |
| application | mathread |
where mathread is an Mathematica Notebook viewer.
You may quickly get a copy of MathRdr.exe for Windows.
Note that this copy may not be as recent as the previous reference however.
To install mathread:
MATHRDR.EXE with the -d flag in the directory where you want MathReader to be:
MATHRDR -d
This will create
a subdirectory called MATHREAD, that contains all the
files necessary to run MathReader.
MATHREAD.INI, located in the MATHREAD
directory, to your Windows directory.READ1ST.MA, also located in the
MATHREAD directory, with MathReader. This
notebook provides instructions on using MathReader. To set up the Mathematica viewer, enter the following into the HelperApplication or
ExternalViewer dialog box in your Web Browser:
| MIME type / subtype | application/mathematica |
|---|---|
| extensions | ma |
| application | MathReader |
Note that if you already have access to Mathematica
you should use that as your viewer.
MathReader is a Mathematica Notebook viewer. You may quickly get a copy of MathReader2.2.sea.hqx for MacIntoshes. Note that this copy may not be as recent as the previous reference however.
For those wishing to convert Mathematica objects into VRML instead, see Tudor Buican's page.
Additional converters are available from
Ed Donley called
