AVI Video Test

Note: This MIME type is starting to go through the RFC process now. By convention, it is video/x-msvideo but when it is released, it will be video/msvideo.

This is a 399kb test video . If you can not view it, you need to install a viewer:

• PCs:

  To set up the AVI viewer, enter the following into the HelperApplication or ExternalViewer dialog box in your Web Browser:
  
  

  MIME type / subtype	video/x-msvideo
  extensions	avi
  application	nettoob

  where nettoob (for Windows), and iviplay are some of the many AVI viewers available.

  You may quickly get a copy of nettoob.exe, avilxp.zip, or iviplay.exe. Note that these copies may not be as recent as the previous references however.

  Note that you may need to supply the complete path to the application. Also, some browsers need a '.' preceeding the extensions entry.
  
  
  

• Mac:

  To set up the AVI viewer, enter the following into the HelperApplication or ExternalViewer dialog box in your Web Browser:

  extensions	avi
  application	movieplayer

  You can quickly get a copy of mov_sea.hqx for the Macintosh.

  Note that you will use the Browse button to find the location the application on your disk. Also, some browsers need a '.' preceeding the extensions entry.
  
  
  

• UNIX:

  add the following viewer entry to your mailcap file:
  

  video/x-msvideo; xanim %s
  

  where xanim is one of many AVI viewers.
  
  Additionally, Cinepak and Indeo, and CYUV (Creative) packs are available for numerous systems. You may quickly get a copy of xanim27064.tar.gz for UNIX systems.
